Doncaster Station, North & South (SimSig)

It’s here! After many years of researching, developing, and testing, the Doncaster Station simulation is finally available for you to purchase. This simulation is certainly on the difficult side but is manageable for one player once they have gained familiarity with the area. Chain Doncaster Station to Doncaster North and Doncaster South (and onwards) for some large multiplayer games!

Doncaster PSB was opened in stages from 1979 to 1981, replacing a number of smaller signalboxes which closed or were relegated to gate boxes. Located nearly 156 miles from London King's Cross, the PSB has a downstairs interlocking room and an upstairs panel control room, along with ancilliary equipment. The 110ft long panel requires five signallers on duty at a time during the day.

This simulation is complex due to the amount of freight moving from yard to yard under signaller control, mingled with local passenger services, high speed trains, and through freights, all vying for a clear path through the area. Two panels are included, panels 2 and 3, also known as the Decoy panel and Station panel respectively. Though challenging, a single player can operate both panels at normal speed.

Doncaster North

The second in the trio of Doncaster PSB simulations, Doncaster North features the sprawling network of tracks north of Doncaster itself. This area is heavy for freight traffic crossing over the East Coast Main Line between Midlands power stations and east coast docks, amongst many other varied flows.

High speed passenger trains fly through as well, mingling with stopping trains to Adwick, Goole, and Scarborough. This is one of those areas where reading the timetable of every train is essential!

Doncaster PSB (South)

We’re excited to announce the release of the Doncaster PSB (South) simulation, the first in a series of three which cover the area controlled by Doncaster PSB. This covers Panel 1 of the real signal box, and a short stretch of panel 2 to give you control over Ranskill loops when running standalone.

Trains run thick and fast on the ECML, and you’ll need to be on your toes to keep things moving, especially when there are delays.

You are in control from Stoke Tunnel, through Grantham, Newark North Gate, the well known Flat Crossing at Newark, Retford, to just north of Bawtry ground frame.

The simulation covers a number of eras, and comes with timetables for 2009, 2015 and 2019.
